Organic Labels

There are a few specific pieces of information to look for when purchasing food items that are labeled organic.

Look for USDA Organic Seal when searching for organic products:

100% Organic means that the product was made with 100% certified organic ingredients.

The term "Organic" followed by the USDA Organic Seal:

means that the product is at least 95% certified organic.

"Organic" but NO USDA Organic Seal:

means that only a few ingredients are organic and the manufacturer must list what ingredients on the label of the product.

“Natural” or “All Natural”

does not have any meaningful legal definitions. Products labeled can be made using non-organic ingredients and methods and can contain Genetically Modified Ingredients.
